Keeping Gomi Mountain Clean
A mountain that looks untouched does not stay that way on its own. Trails collect bottles, picnic spots collect everything else, and the wind redistributes whatever is left. So a few times a season we walk the ridge with bags and gloves — our team, local volunteers, and any guests who feel like joining.
At the camp itself, nothing is burned or buried. Waste is separated and carried down the mountain: organic scraps become compost for the garden, while glass, plastic, and metal travel down to the recycling point.
And in spring we plant: native saplings on the slopes that were logged years ago. Trees planted with volunteers grow slowly — but they will watch the fog sea far longer than we will.
If your stay happens to fall on a clean-up day, join us. We bring the gloves; the mountain pays you back with the view.
